Quitline®
A tobacco Cessation program

The Highest Return on Investment

Quitting tobacco is difficult! It can take up to seven attempts or more to quit successfully. In the last five years, over 160,000 thousand people have contacted the American Cancer Society Quitline to receive the tools and strategies they needed to become smoke-free.

This clinically-proven program provides support and helps participants stay focused on their personal reasons for quitting. The Quitline includes:

  • Counseling sessions tailored to the participant, with focus on preparing for their quit attempt and long-term success.

  • Self-help booklets designed to keep participants motivated and prepared for life without tobacco.

  • Participants are advised of support programs available in their community.

  • Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT), including the nicotine patch, gum and lozenge, can be provided in conjunction with the counseling program.

Features & Benefits

  • Manage the Financial Burden of Chronic Disease
Cigarette smoking is the single major cause of cancer mortality in the United States. It is estimated to cost businesses $3,383 per employee who smokes per year. The Quitline can help reduce the number of employees who smoke, consequently reducing health care costs for the company.
  • Reduce Lost Productivity
Sick days, cigarette breaks, and employees that tire easily are some day-to-day losses attributable to smoking. Smoking is also a major cause of heart disease, bronchitis, emphysema, and stroke. These serious illnesses can have a major impact on employee productivity.
  • Protect Your People
Nearly one of every five deaths in the United States is related to smoking. Cigarettes kill more Americans than alcohol, car accidents, suicide, AIDS, homicide, and illegal drugs combined. You can help protect your people by providing Quitline as a tool for successful smoking cessation.
